The resolution indicates how detailed and sharp the thermal image provided by the device is – i.e., how well you can detect and distinguish objects. The higher the resolution, the clearer the image.

A VOx sensor is made of vanadium oxide (VOx), a material that reacts sensitively to infrared (thermal) radiation. When heat radiation (e.g., from an animal or human) hits the sensor, its electrical resistance changes – this change is electronically measured and converted into an image. 

12 μm

Pixel pitch refers to the distance from the center of one pixel to the center of the adjacent pixel on the sensor. It is measured in micrometers (μm) – e.g., 12 μm. The smaller the pixel pitch, the closer the pixels are arranged – improving image sharpness and detail accuracy. Pixel pitch ranges from around 10 μm in high-end devices to about 25 μm in older and simpler models.

50 Hz

The refresh rate of a thermal imaging device indicates how many times per second the image is updated – e.g., 50 Hz = 50 frames per second. This ensures smooth, clear imaging especially when tracking moving animals or panning the view – increasing both visual comfort and reaction reliability in dynamic hunting situations.

IP67

The IP67 rating indicates how well a device is protected against dust and water ingress. The first digit (ranging from 0 to 6) refers to protection against solid objects like dust – a 6 means it is completely dustproof. The second digit (ranging from 0 to 9) refers to water protection. A 7 means the device can withstand brief immersion in water up to 1 meter deep for a maximum of 30 minutes. IP67-rated devices are therefore well protected for daily outdoor use – including dust, rain, or short submersion.

Laser

A Class 1 laser rangefinder uses a laser beam that is completely harmless to eyes and skin – even with direct exposure. Devices in this class are the safest available and do not require eye protection.
